Being an Employee (Nanny/Childcarer)
Hopefully you will find the ideal position using our agency so here are some areas which you need to discuss with your new employer:
- Duties - Make sure that you are clear about these. We recommend that you have a written contract before you start your new position stating these.
- Pay - This will be negotiated by you with a prospective employer before you start.
- Tax and National Insurance (N.I) - You should give your P45 (from your last position) and N.I number to your new employer. They can then pay your salary after deducting tax and National Insurance contributions which they pay on your behalf. You may like to mention that we offer a payroll service.
- Holidays - This needs to be agreed between you and your new employer. The legal minimum is 4 weeks a year for a full-time nanny, pro-rata for part-time. This should be specified in your contract before you start.
- Making it Work - We will telephone you soon after placement to check things are running smoothly. It is important to continually talk to your employer to discuss your job, the children and any other relevant issues.
